Gazi University attained enourmous success at the "UIPM Modern Pentathlon World Championship" organized by the Egyptian Modern Pentathlon Federation.
Gazi University postgraduate student İlke Özyüksel, who is a national athlete of Türkiye, became third in the world in the women's category at the first UIPM Modern Pentathlon World Championship in the 90-minute format which was organized in Alexandria, Egypt between 24-31 July 2022.
İlke Özyüksel, who is a national athlete of Türkiye and Buğra Ünal ,who graduated from the Faculty of Sports Sciences of Gazi University, came third in the relay race at the UIPM Modern Pentathlon World Championship. 38 athletes from 19 countries joined the championship. Our national athletes İlke Özyüksel and Buğra Ünal, who represented Türkiye, finished the relay race, which involved fencing, swimming, running and shooting laps, as third in the world and brought our country the second medal in our history at the adult world championships.
We congratulate our national athletes and Prof.Dr. Hacı Ahmet Pekel who is a professor at the Faculty of Sports Sciences Education of Gazi University and continue to believe that they will bring a gold medal to our country in this branch.
