Athletes from our University successfully represented Gazi University and Türkiye at the European Universities Games, organized by the European University Sports Association (EUSA), of which the Turkish University Sports Federation (TÜSF) is a member. The Games were held in Salerno, Italy, from July 27 to August 2, 2026.

In badminton, Beren Aşkar and Zeynep Berre Ocakoğlu won the gold medal in the women’s doubles category, becoming European champions, while Nurullah Saraç won the silver medal in the men’s singles category, finishing as European runner-up.

In the badminton team championship, which featured 20 universities, our University finished in sixth place, making a significant contribution to the national and university rankings. All of our athletes also reached the quarterfinals in their respective categories.

In addition to the men’s and women’s badminton teams, our University was successfully represented at the Games by the women’s futsal, women’s beach handball, and women’s 3x3 basketball teams.

Our Rector, Prof. Uğur Ünal, and Dean of the Faculty of Sport Sciences, Prof. İbrahim Cicioğlu, who supported our athletes throughout the competition, closely followed the badminton and women’s 3x3 basketball matches and stood by our teams.

We congratulate our athletes, who proudly carried the Turkish national colors and the Gazi University emblem on the European stage, and wish them continued success.
