Our Rector Prof. Dr. Musa Yıldız and the accompanying delegation who went to Azerbaijan to make a series of contacts, held cooperation and protocol talks with Azerbaijan and State Universities in Baku. Cooperation protocols were signed with Azerbaijan Mingachevir State University, Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) as well as with Azerbaijan Sumgait State University. Along with Our Rector Prof. Dr. Musa Yıldız, the protocol signing ceremony was attented by Deputy Minister of National Education of Azerbaijan Firudin Kurbanov, Azerbaijan Sumgait State University Rector Prof. Dr. Elhan Huseynov,  Faculty of Engineering Dean Prof. Dr. Rahmi Ünal, Education-Training and Foreign Relations Institution Coordinator Prof. Dr. İhsan Kalenderoğlu and Educational Advisor of the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Ankara Assoc. Prof. Dr. Necibe Nesibova.

In his speech at the ceremony, Deputy Minister of National Education of Azerbaijan Firudin Kurbanov noted that the friendship and brotherhood relations between Azerbaijan and Turkey have serious grounds. Talking about the cooperation agreements between our university and Azerbaijani universities, Kurbanov said, “Gazi University has extensive experience in the training of highly qualified medical education specialists in Turkey. For this reason, 38 out of 50 Azerbaijani citizens who were entitled to receive education within the framework of the state program to educate Azerbaijani youth abroad in 2007-2015 chose Gazi University specialty in Medicine".

Our Rector Prof. Dr. Musa Yıldız   stated in his speech at the ceremony that they want to further develop the cooperation between the two universities and noted that our university will appear more in Azerbaijan. Prof. Dr. Musa Yıldız said that the cooperation between Azerbaijan and Turkey higher education institutions is very important and that these cooperations will have very valuable results. Giving information about our university and The Council of Higher Education (YÖK), our Rector Prof. Dr. Musa Yıldız concluded his speech by wishing the cooperation agreement be beneficial for both institutions.

Azerbaijan Sumgait University Rector Prof. Dr.  Elhan Huseynov stated that with this cooperation they have the opportunity to benefit from the experience of Gazi University. Emphasizing that they aim to increase innovation opportunities through the assistance of Gazi University, Rector Huseynov thanked our Rector Prof. Dr. Musa Yıldız for his support.

Following the protocol speeches, our Rector Prof. Dr. Musa Yıldız and Azerbaijan Sugait State University Rector Prof. Dr. Elhan Huseynov signed the cooperation protocol. This protocol covers issues such as lecturer and student exchange between the two universities, cultural exchange programs, joint summer programs, collaborative research projects, joint and dual degree programs, and academic supervision of graduate students.
