Gazi University continues its rise in the 2026 QS Subject Rankings: entering the rankings in 10 separate academic areas, the University rose to 88th in the world in Education and continues to rank first in Türkiye.

Overview across Türkiye: In the QS 2026 subject rankings, 28 universities from Türkiye succeeded in being ranked in a total of 213 academic fields. Turkish universities rose in 80 of these fields, declined in 24, maintained their positions in 70, and entered the rankings for the first time in 39.

Gazi University’s International Outlook: According to the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026 results announced by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) on 25 March 2026, Gazi University demonstrated a remarkable performance in this prestigious ranking, in which more than 1,700 universities worldwide were evaluated across 55 different disciplines. In the evaluation based on five main criteria, academic reputation, employer reputation, citation impact, h-index and international research network, Gazi University improved in most of the areas in which it was ranked compared with the previous year.

In the 2026 QS subject rankings, the University appeared in nine sub-fields and one broad field, once again proving its academic achievement at the international level. It rose in six of the nine fields and entered two new fields for the first time. In this respect, it demonstrated a meaningful performance increase among Turkish universities.

Education: Türkiye Leadership Maintained, Significant Rise in World Ranking

The most striking development this year occurred in the field of Education. Gazi University ranked 100th in the world in 2025 and rose by 12 places to 88th in the 2026 ranking. This result is a concrete indicator that the University’s accumulated experience and research capacity in Education, the foundation of its founding mission, have gained international recognition. Nationally, it continues to maintain its leading position by ranking first in Türkiye.

Rise in Six Fields and Entry into Two New Fields

In addition to Education, the University rose in five more fields in the world rankings. Chemistry improved from the 601-700 band to the 501-550 band and from 9th to 5th in Türkiye, showing the most notable improvement. Mathematics rose from the 451-500 band to the 401-450 band globally and from 8th to 5th in Türkiye. Medicine also improved, reaching the 401-450 band globally. Biological Sciences and Computer Science also recorded improvements in the world rankings.

In the 2026 rankings, the University succeeded in entering the rankings in two additional fields. It ranked 451-500 worldwide and 8th in Türkiye in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, and 601-675 worldwide in Physics and Astronomy, positioning itself among the top 10 universities in Türkiye. The success in these two new fields indicates that the University’s research outputs in Science and Engineering have had positive effects on international visibility.

Under increasing competitive conditions, the University continues to maintain its place among the top three universities in Türkiye in Pharmacy. In the broad-field category of Arts and Humanities, it maintained its position in the 451-500 band globally and 9th in Türkiye, sustaining its stability in this area.
