The TÜBİTAK bilateral cooperation project prepared under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Rahmi Ünal, a faculty member of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, was accepted. The project was awarded funding following evaluations by both parties under the 2025 TÜBİTAK-MIGHT bilateral cooperation call between Türkiye and Malaysia. Entitled “Development of Advanced Functionally Graded Multi-Materials for Aerospace Applications Using Additive Manufacturing and Machine Learning,” the project has a budget of approximately 3 million TL and will contribute to strengthening Gazi University’s competence in additive manufacturing.

The project is based on the Scientific and Technological Cooperation Protocol between 2567-TÜBİTAK and the Malaysia Industry-Government Group for High Technology (MIGHT). The project partners are Gazi University and MetalWorm Additive Manufacturing Inc. on the Turkish side, and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) and G7 Aerospace on the Malaysian side. The project leaders are Prof. Dr. Rahmi Ünal (Gazi University), Nevzat Bol (MetalWorm), Prof. Dr. Mohd Hasbullah Idris (UTM) and Izhar Harun (G7 Aerospace). In the Gazi University project team, Prof. Dr. Oğuzhan Yılmaz and Asst. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kaş serve as researchers. The project is based on a strategic international collaboration that benefits from the complementary strengths of its partners. The core bilateral partnership between Türkiye (Gazi University, MetalWorm) and Malaysia (Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, G7 Aerospace) provides the academic-industrial partnership required for R&D and implementation.
