Six Projects from Gazi University Was Awarded Funding Under TÜBİTAK 1001

Within the scope of the Scientific and Technological Research Projects Support Program (TÜBİTAK), six projects from Gazi University qualified for funding in the second term of 2025. The faculty members whose projects were accepted and the titles of their projects are as follows:

• Prof. Dr. Gonca Çakmak, Faculty of Pharmacy, Department of Pharmaceutical Toxicology: Investigation of Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substance Exposure and Possible Genotoxic Effects in Firefighters through Molecular Epidemiology, In Silico and Risk Analysis Approaches.

• Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hilal Torul, Faculty of Pharmacy, Department of Analytical Chemistry: A Mobile-Device-Compatible Origami-Based Electrochemical Lateral Flow Test for the Use of GAL-8, ITGβ-1 and HIF-1α as Biomarkers in Glioma Diagnosis.

• Prof. Dr. Zehranur Yüksekdağ, Faculty of Science, Department of Biology: Plasma Application as an Alternative to Conventional Treatments in Dental Plaque Removal and Removal of Streptococcus mutans Biofilms, Mutagenicity, Cytotoxicity, Genotoxicity and Molecular Mechanism.

• Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ali Emre Genç, Faculty of Science, Department of Physics: Prediction of Suitable MOF Structures through High-Performance Computing for Post-Combustion CO2 Capture.

• Prof. Dr. Ayfer Sayın, Gazi Faculty of Education, Department of Educational Sciences: An AI-Supported E-Assessment System for Open-Ended Mathematical Domain Skill Items.

• Prof. Dr. Kerem Taştan, Faculty of Engineering, Department of Civil Engineering: Experimental and Numerical Investigation of the Effects of Flow Developing after the Failure of a Sediment-Accumulated Dam on Downstream Structures and Protective Measures.
