The “University Sports Workshop,” organized by the Council of Higher Education and the Turkish University Sports Federation (TÜSF), is being held under the auspices of our University. The opening ceremony, which took place at the Rectorate’s Mimar Kemaleddin Hall, was attended by our Rector Prof. Uğur Ünal, who also serves as the Chair of the TÜSF Council of Rectors; Bayburt University Rector and TÜSF President Prof. Mutlu Türkmen; Yüksek İhtisas University Rector Prof. Kadirhan Sunguroğlu; as well as academics from various universities.

The two-day event began with the opening speech delivered by TÜSF President Prof. Mutlu Türkmen. In his speech, Prof. Türkmen emphasized the Federation’s strong commitment to healthy campus and sports-friendly campus projects, providing information about the initiatives carried out in this context. He also underlined the significance of this workshop in terms of activities to be held throughout the year and expressed his gratitude to those who contributed to the organization of the event.

Following the address of TÜSF President Prof. Mutlu Türkmen, our Rector Prof. Uğur Ünal took the stage. Prof. Ünal began his remarks by expressing his pleasure that the event was being held under the roof of our University. Extending a warm welcome to the guests, he highlighted that Gazi University has been a pioneering institution in sports and sports-related activities and has achieved remarkable successes in this field until recently. Stressing the importance given to expanding sports activities, Prof. Ünal noted that plans are underway to improve and develop our sports facilities. He also emphasized the University’s dedication to encouraging its staff to engage in sports, stating that he personally strives to set an example by walking daily on campus. Prof. Ünal underlined their determination to advance the concept of a Sports-Friendly Campus at Gazi University. He concluded his speech by wishing the workshop to be fruitful.

After the speeches, the workshop presentations commenced.
