17 April 2021 | 15:31

Our university, Hodja Ahmet Yesevi University and Turkey's Energy Strategy and Policy Research Center (TESPA) jointly organized the "Climate and Energy Forum" which was held online.

Speaking at the forum, our Rector Prof. Dr. Musa Yıldız pointed out that climate change is one of the most important issues faced by the world in recent years and said, “Primarily, the use of fossil fuel and human-induced causes, tend to cause irreversible damage to the climate structure of our world. In order to prevent this, we have to use energy efficiently. As Gazi University, we have organized this forum with Hoca Ahmet Yesevi University and TESPAM in order to discuss two such important issues, to come together with scientists to find solutions to these problems and to increase public awareness. I would like to thank those who contributed to the organization of this forum and I hope it will be a success ”.

TESPAM President Oğuzhan Akyener emphasized that global warming like COVID-19 is an issue for all people in the world.  He stated, “Although not as fast as COVID-19, global warming has been an ongoing issue for years. We see that climates have shifted in recent years. We have become used to disasters in every region of the world due to climate change. However, the drought issue, which concerns us closely, has reached serious dimensions. Climate change, which poses a threat to our world, is an issue that concerns us closely."

Hoca Ahmet Yesevi University Chairman of the Board of Trustees Prof. Dr. Muhittin Şimşek started his words by pointing out that the most important problem faced by all humanity in the 21st century is global climate change. Prof. Dr. Şimşek pointed out that the production methods that became widespread with the industrial revolution caused the world's scarce resources to be depleted rapidly and said, “The increase in carbon emissions continues to upset the balances of our planet and pose a threat to humanity. Global warming continues to increase due to the increasing energy consumption and the world's dependence on fossil fuels. In order to prevent this, we need to use energy efficiently and obtain the basic needs of humanity such as heating and cooling from clean energy sources ”.
