Our University 2020-2021 Academic Year started with the opening lecture given by our Rector Prof. Dr. Musa Yıldız within the scope of Distance Education Student Orientation Program.

Prof. Dr. Musa Yıldız, stating that he started his undergraduate education at Gazi Faculty of Education in 1984, said that he always had the honor and pride of being a “Gazili.” Stating that as 14^th August of 2020, our President has been appointed as rector with placet. Our Rector Prof. Dr. Musa Yıldız said, "I would like to thank our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who has awarded me this task, and our President of Council of Higher Education, Prof. Dr. M. A. Yekta Saraç, and express my deepest gratitude. In addition, I would like to express that I have the pride and honor of serving as rector after working both as an academician and as an administrator at various levels to our University, which is named after Gazi Mustafa Kemal Ataturk's title as Gazi and is one of the leading institutions of the Turkish education system."

Strong Academic Staff

Gazi University Rector Prof. Dr. Musa Yıldız said that Gazi University continues its activities as one of the leading universities in education according to the criteria of "Research University" determined by the Higher Education Council Presidency. Our Rector has a total of 922 professors, 356 associate professors, 221 Dr. faculty members, 558 lecturers and 1,182 research assistants in 11 faculties, 5 institutes, 2 colleges and 4 vocational schools within our University; 3.239 academics were on duty.

‘Young People Who Will Study at Our University Are Entrusted to Us’

Rector Prof. Dr. Yıldız, stating that universities are among the institutions where the educational process is most dynamic and effective, said that they will make the 44.236 students studying at our university feel the same as “Gazili.” Prof. Dr. Musa Yıldız stated that the education was gone online due to the pandemic and that they wanted to meet the students in classrooms as soon as possible. Prof. Dr. Musa Yıldız gave the good news that the "Student Affairs Help Desk,” which was established during the distance education period to produce solutions to the problems to be encountered about the learning process, was also launched.

'We stand with you as University Administration'

Our Rector Prof. Dr. Yıldız also addressed the academicians and told them that the university is one with its students and academicians. Underlining that they see faculty members as a value, Rector Prof. Dr. Musa Yıldız said, "With the understanding of a team spirit with you; we aim to provide quality service to our valued students and society. As the university administration, we promise to always support you, meritocracy and academic success. In this regard, I would like to state that we will always support your publications, projects, patents, symposiums and similar scientific activities that will provide added value to our University and contribute to the rankings on national and international scales, indiscriminately, to the extent of our possibilities. You can reach us at any time of the day about all kinds of problems you encounter in our University and the issues you need."

Rector Prof. Dr. Musa Yıldız also thanked those who worked in the conduct of educational activities and those who worked within the departments and other units affiliated to our secretary general.

‘We stand with our Azerbaijani Brothers’

Prof. Dr. Musa Yıldız also condemned Armenia's attack on our defenseless, innocent Azerbaijani brothers and sisters in civilian settlements with heavy weapons  28^th September of 2020. Stating that as Gazi University, they will strive to explain Azerbaijan's rightful cause on conferences, panels, symposiums, painting exhibitions, etc. on science platforms, Our Rector Prof. Dr. Musa Yıldız said, "I would like to support the existing cooperation protocols in line with the possibilities of our university with all brotherly, friendly and related communities in Turkistan geography and around the world, and I want to state that we are open to future cooperation proposals."

Prof. Dr. Musa Yıldız completed his speech with the hope that the 2020-2021 academic year will be an occasion for blessings.
