With the contributions of Stanford University scientist Prof.John P. A. Loannidis, the list of the most cited academics in the world was announced in the Elsevier database in two separate data as "career-long" and "single year" impact. 22 scientific fields and 176 sub-fields were taken into account in these lists, which includes scientists who are in the top 2% percentile. The “single year” list uses 2021 Scopus data provided by Elsevier (https://www.elsevier.com/icsr/icsrlab).

In these rankings, where citation information is basically taken as a criterion, a total of 200 thousand 409 scientists around the world are on the "single year" list; while 195,605 scientists succeeded in being included in the "career long" list. In Türkiye, 1,202 research scientists qualified to be included in the "single year" list, and 897 research scientists qualified to be included in the "career-long" list.

32 scientists from Gazi University succeeded in ranking in the "single year" list. We congratulate the scientists from our university who have been placed in the ranking and wish them continuous success.
