A conference titled "Hodja Ahmet Yesevi and the Turkish World" was Organised at our university

The "Tuesday Conferences" organized by the Gazi Faculty of Education began with the conference titled "Hodja Ahmet Yesevi" given by Our Rector Prof. Dr. Musa Yıldız. The opening speech of the conference, which was held online on our university's social media accounts, was delivered by Vice Dean of Gazi Education Faculty, Prof. Dr. Mahmut Selvi. Stating that they are planning to organize this event every two weeks, Prof. Dr. Selvi said, "In these conferences, the aim is to increase communication between faculty members and to provide an intellectual and interdisciplinary perspective in order to benefit from the corpus of lecturers by addressing different issues outside their fields.

 

Prof. Dr. Mahmut Selvi explained that in these conferences, they will include topics appealing to the general public. Stating that they will hold the second Tuesday Conferences on January 19th, Deputy Dean Selvi said that in this conference he will provide information on the subject "Covid 19 Outbreak: Changing World, Changing Health Services" by Gazi University Dean of Faculty of Medicine Prof. Dr. Mustafa Necmi İlhan.

 

The opening speech by Dean Prof. Dr. Mahmut Selvi, was followed by Rector Prof. Dr. Musa Yıldız's conference on "Hodja Ahmet Yesevi and the Turkish World". In this conference, Prof. Dr. Musa Yıldız talked about Hodja Ahmet Yesevi, the symbol of the unity and solidarity of the Turkish world, and his place in the Turkish world. Our Rector Prof. Dr. Musa Yıldız said that they aimed to raise awareness by introducing Hodja Ahmet Yesevi in this conference.

Emphasizing the importance of concepts, Prof. Dr. Musa Yıldız stated that by forgetting the concepts, we have moved away from our own self. Stating that the concepts should be reminded again, Musa Yıldız said that the term "Turkic" was used incorrectly. Pointing out that the expression Turkic Republics is wrong, Musa Yıldız stated that the correct concept is Turkish republics and Turkish states. Prof. Dr. Musa Yıldız stated that the concept of Turkic is intentionally produced to marginalize.

Explaining that Turkestan is an important geography in the Turkish world, Musa Yıldız said that it is wrong to call this geography "Central Asia". Noting that the concept of "Central Asia" is a political concept, Prof. Dr. Yıldız stated that the correct concept within the Turkish-Islamic civilization is Turkistan.

Emphasizing that the concepts of "Azeri" and "Azerbaijani" are also wrong, Prof. Dr. Musa Yıldız explained that the correct terms of these concepts are "Azerbaijani Turk" and "Azerbaijani Turkish".

In his speech, Our Rector Prof. Dr. Musa Yıldız commemorated Ord. Prof. Dr. Fuat Köprülü for his contribution on the recognition of Hodja Ahmet Yesevi.  Prof. Dr. Musa Yıldız talked about Köprülü's work named "The First Sufis in Turkish Literature" and said that he included Hoca Ahmet Yesevi in ​​this work.

Our Rector Prof. Dr. Musa Yıldız concluded his speech with the 132nd wisdom of Hodja Ahmet Yesevi:

Dem bu demdir başka demi dem deme

Dünyadan gamsız geçersin gam deme

Kul Hoca Ahmed ganimet bil her nefesi

Yarsız geçen bu demi dem deme’’
