A Panel on "Raising Awareness on Cyber Security" was held at Our University

Gazi University organised a panel titled "Raising Awareness on Cyber Security" during the Cyber Security Week that took place between December 21-25. Our Rector Prof. Dr Musa Yıldız gave the opening speech to the panel which was directed by Rector Advisor Prof. Dr. Halil İbrahim Bülbül.

Prof. Dr. Musa Yıldız stated that the panel was organised due to the December 21-25 Cyber Security Week with the purpose of increasing awareness and sensitivity on this issue. Referring to the recent developments in the field of cyber security in our country as in the rest of the world, our Rector Prof. Dr. Yıldız indicated that “there are both positive and negative situations regarding cyber security in digital environments. It is of great importance to explain positive developments and draw attention to negative situations and raise awareness in the society.”

Prof. Dr. Yıldız added that Gazi University continues on its work on cyber security and that as university management they attach great importance to this issue. Our Rector Prof. Dr. Musa Yıldız thanked those who attended and contributed to the panel.

Rector Advisor Prof. Dr. Halil İbrahim Bülbül stated that due to the Cyber Security Week, a number of activities were held in the administration of the Presidential Digital Transformation Office. The panel began after the opening speech made by Bülbül.

Faculty of Engineering Deputy Dean Prof. Dr. Şeref Sağıroğlu gave a presentation titled "Big Data and Cyber Security" at the panel. Prof. Dr. Sağıroğlu emphasised that the digital world had become a necessity, but that measures need to be taken against cyber-attacks in the world. Pointing out that according to the ''Web of Science '' data, Gazi University was one of the most important universities contributing to world science, Prof. Dr. Şeref Sağıroğlu said, “We can proudly say that according to the Web of Science data our university is ranked as the second university in the field of big data.”

Faculty of Technology, Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering Professor. Dr. Erdal Irmak, gave a presentation on "Critical Infrastructures and Cyber Security" while Faculty of Technology, Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering Prof. Dr. Ercan Nurcan Yılmaz, gave a presentation on "Critical Infrastructures and Cyber Security".

Gazi Faculty of Education Department of Computer Education and Instructional Technologies faculty member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mutlu Tahsin Üstündağ and Head of Information Technologies Department Dr. Zafer Ayaz gave presentations on "GUZEM and Cyber Security" and "Information Systems and Cyber Security" respectively.

Vice President of the Information Technologies and Communication Authority Dr. Mustafa Küçükali gave a presentation on "Safe Internet and Cyber Security", while Net Data Soft General Manager Dr. Yusuf Tulgar gave a presentation on "Domestic Product and Cyber Security".
