Gazi university's Turkish Culture and Haci Bektaş Veli Research Center organized a fasting activity for Muharram ul Haram.
Gazi University Rector Prof. Dr. İbrahim Uslan, academicians and a large number of guests attended the activitiy held at the cultural center. The program started with the reading of the Holy Quran and the guests broke fast after the prayer of the leader of the Alevi.
Rector started his speech with the wish of God's mercy to Lieutenant Mustafa Erdal, the son of Nursel Erdal, the administrative staff of the Gazi University Hospital, who was martyred in Şırnak, Cizre. The Rector, who expressed the resignation of those who were martyred in Karbala, emphasized that Hussein is the name of love, affection the oppresed in this region and said, "We are always with oppressed people and against the vicious. There are lots of Husseins in this geography, but no Yazid".
Rector pointed out that we started to lose our values in this civilization era and stated that this can be overcome with unity and cooperation and added "as long as our philosophy is a philosophy of "be together , be big, be alive", rights and justice will always be dominant in this region. Love and brotherhood will prevail. I believe that if these values are dominant in this geography, there will be no opportunity for terrorists inside and outside us, and that we will always have a share in this geography ".
Our Rector recalled that Gazi University was chosen as a research university and remarked that Gazi was one of the first three universities to represent our country with the highest international scientific rating, and said that they acted with responsibility and consciousness.
The President of Turkish Culture and Hacı Bektaş Veli Research Center Assoc. Prof. Dr. Orhan Kurtoğlu said that the activities would continue during the month. He added ; "In the coming days, we will organize a panel which the session manager will be the former chairman Prof. Dr. Pakize Aytaç. A visit to the Hacı Bektaş Veli Social Complex will be held on 7 October and an event will be held on 10 October at the Gazi Concert Hall. Finally, on 12 October, we will serve ashoura in the poolside in front of our Rector's building. All the staff and our students are invited to the event".
