'World Arabic Day' Program in Gazi

'World Arabic Day' program organized by cooperation of Embassy of Saudi Arabia Ankara Schools and Gazi University Arabic Language Education Department was held in Mimar Kemaleddin Hall on December 19, 2017.

 

 

Ambassador of Saudi Arabia Waleed A. Elkereiji, the  Director of Embassy of Saudi Arabia Ankara Schools Muhammad El Blawi, Vice Rectors of Gazi University Prof. Dr. Yaşar Aydemir, Prof. Dr. Nizami Aktürk and Prof. Dr. Alper Ceylan, President of Ahmet Yesevi University Board of Trustees Prof. Dr. Musa Yıldız, the Ambassadors of many countries, academicians,  students of  the Embassy of Saudi Arabia Ankara Schools  and many guests attended to the program.

The program started with the recitation of the Holy Qur'an. El Blawi who made  the opening speech of the World Arabic Day, expressed his sincere thanks especially  to Rector Prof. Dr. İbrahim Uslan and the university staff  because of this opportunity.

YIlDIZ: "Today Arabic  is Crucial for Turkey"

After the speech of El Blawi, Prof. Dr. Musa Yıldız said that the demand of learning Arabic increased as Turkish economy made strides in recent years. He added "in prior periods, Arabic language was recognized as a religion language in Turkey . However, due to the cultural and commercial developments between Arab countries and Turkey  as a result of tourism and imports from Turkey and Turkish companies, today Turkish countries are in need of Arabic-speaking staff ".

Prof. Dr. Musa Yıldız thanked to those who contributed in the celebration program and recommended that the students use the opportunity of learning Arabic well. He also added "To meet all these needs, Gazi University is the only university in our country that has three Arabic departments, namely Arabic Language Education, Arabic Translation and Interpretation, and Arabic Language and Belagati".

 

 

Aydemir: "When the language of Arabic is considered,  Gazi University comes to mind firstly"

Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Yaşar Aydemir also reminded that World Arabic Day had been celebrated since December 18, 2012, and pointed out that they were  grateful to be a partner of this organized program. Aydemir said that the Arabic Language Department, which was established in Gazi Education Faculty in 1984, continues to serve as three departments. "Those who graduate from Arabic language department serve as experts, academicians and interpreters in various institutions of our country. For this reason, we are happy that this activity is being celebrated at the host of our university. "

Aydemir said that Arabic is a language of civilization beyond being a language spoken in a specific geographical region of Arabia. He added "Our Prophet's, who is the mercy of mankind,and Qur'an's language is Arabic. Therefore, Arabic becomes common language between many Muslims who do not speak Arabic. Speaking, developing and spreading of the Arabic language is important in terms of a wide geography. "

Waleed A. Elkeriji, Ambassador of Saudi Arabia, emphasized that UNESCO accept Arabic language among the six major languages ​​of the world. He said "We believe that the Arabic language will regain its position as worthy. I want to express my gratitude to Rector Prof. Dr. İbrahim Uslan who represents Gazi University at first and the others attending the celebration for the hospitality."

After the speeches, the students of Saudi Arabia Ankara Schools presented a mini sketch of the Arabic language. The program finished after a plaque set and collective photo shoots.
