"In Search of Our Roots" Conference Series Started

Mağcan Cumabay was discussed in the first conference series "In Search of Our Roots" organized by the Rectorate of our University and the Turkish Learning Research, and Application Center (TÖMER). President of the Eurasian Writers Union and our University Health Services Vocational School Lecturer Dr. Yakup Ömeroğlu gave information about Mağcan Cumabay.

The program started with the greeting speech of Bauyrzhan Zhakyp, Vice President of the Kazakhstan Writers Union. Following Bauyrzhan Zhakyp's sincere speech, our Rector Prof. Dr. Musa Yıldız began his opening speech by stating that they have started a new program called "In Search of Our Roots" and that within the scope of this conference series, important figures of the Turkish world will be introduced by experts in their fields every month. Continuing with the words, "Like Atatürk said, ‘the future is in the skies', the future is in the skies and also in the roots," Rector Yıldız emphasized that the way against any possible global wave is to strengthen the roots.

Speaking about Dr. Yakup Ömeroğlu, Prof. Dr. Musa Yıldız said that Ömeroğlu introduced the works of important figures from the Turkish world by transferring them to Turkish through the ingenuity of the Eurasian Writers Union he founded. Our Rector Prof. Dr. Yildiz stated that "Kardeş Kalemler" magazine, published by Ömeroğlu, unites the people of the Turkistan geography and the people of Anatolia.

Referring to the fact that Mağcan Cumabay is an important figure in the Turkish world, Prof. Dr. Musa Yıldız stated that while the struggle for liberation was taking place in Anatolia, Cumabay delivered the money, that the people living in Turkestan saved, to Anatolia. Rector Yıldız stated that Mağcan Cumabay, who fought for the Turkish unity for the sake of Turkishness throughout his life, was martyred by being shot and we owe him a lot as people of Anatolia.

Our Rector Prof. Dr. Musa Yıldız ended his words with the first quatrain of Mağcan Cumabay's poem "Alıstaki Bavırıma / My Distant Brother":

My brother tormented far away,

My brother who dries like faded tulips

In the midst of the enemy that surrounds you

My brother who shed tears like a lake "

Following the opening speech of Prof. Dr.  Musa Yıldız, Dr. Yakup Ömeroğlu's conference on Mağcan Cumabay was held. Stating that he is very pleased for the organisation of the conference series "In the Footsteps of Our Roots", Ömeroğlu said that it is very meaningful that the first of these conferences was about Mağcan Cumabay. Dr. Yakup Ömeroğlu thanked Our Rector Prof. Dr. Musa Yıldız for organising the "In the Footsteps of Our Roots" conference series.

Stating that Mağcan Cumabay is one of the founding poets of Kazakh poetry, Dr. Ömeroğlu said that Mağcan Cumabay is also of great importance for the Kazakh national movement. Explaining that Mağcan Cumabay was a poet who wrote great poems at a very young age, Dr. Ömeroğlu also stated that Cumabay with his poems gave a spirit to a movement. Mentioning that the first Mağcan bust in the world was erected in Ankara, Dr. Yakup Ömeroğlu stated that the people of Anatolia paid their debt to Mağcan Cumabay in this way.
