"7. Health Sciences Faculty Deans Council Meeting" (SABDEK) was held at Mimar Kemaleddin Hall on 17-18 November 2017.

Opening speeches were made by the Dean of Gazi University Faculty of Health Sciences Prof. Dr. Mustafa Necmi İlhan, the President of SABDEK and Hacettepe University Faculty of Health Sciences member Prof. Dr. Fatma Gül Şener, Gazi University Rector Prof. Dr. İbrahim Uslan and the Deputy Chairman of the Council of Higher Education Prof. Dr. Safa Kapıcıoğlu.

Gazi University Rector Prof. Dr. İbrahim Uslan pointed out that the educational qualities of the faculties and departments related to health should have the highest standards and said that these faculties and departments which are training health professionals relates to the health of the community directly.

Our Health Sciences Faculty is 10 Years Old

Rector Prof. Dr. Uslan said that the concept of health is being redefined today, saying: "Today, health education is realized not only by treating the diseases, but by focusing on the prevention of illnesses and the maintenance of health. This requires multidisciplinary activities of the professions in the health sciences, both in terms of scientific studies and services offered. With this understanding, our Health Sciences Faculty, which was established in 2008, continues to work with the vision of being a faculty that has accepted the competence in education and training in 10 years period and has a say in the development of health policies of our country ".

75 thousand students get training totally

Prof. Dr. Safa Kapıcıoğlu said that the number of the Faculty of Health Sciences reached 90, including foundation universities. "There are about 20 different programs in these faculties. Among these, the first three are nursing, nutrition dietetics and physiotherapy and rehabilitation programs. These are followed by health management, social work and child development. About 50 thousand students are studying at state universities, and about 25 thousand students are studying at foundation universities. Students prefer programs in the top three in the same way, "he said.

Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal, Deputy Chairperson of the Council of Higher Education, participated in the next session of the program and shared his knowledge about the aims and objectives of the Research Universities with the audience. On the second day of the panel, a member of the Executive Board of the Higher Education Council Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zeliha Tufan gave information about the work carried out on accreditation and planned work.

In the two day council meeting,  topics such as current developments in the field of higher education, self evaluation process in health science faculties, ethics and legal applications and case examples in health science researches, equivalence in health sciences, guidelines and application processes, evaluation of medical and health sciences education studies were discussed.
